Comet Elenin to Make Close Visit 10/17/11 05.30/11

A Relatively Close Fly-by Has Some Folks worried

Jet Propulsion Laboratory and other sources

Comet Elenin will be close to Earth around October 17, about 0.232 Astronomical Units.

There is a school of thought that the Mayan calendar actually ends October 18, 2011, so this comet's close approach (~34.7 million miles) works well with that interpretation.

Go to the JPL site to run the animation below, and see the scary video on YouTube.
