|The Secret Life of Plants||02.11.12|
Just because we cannot hear them scream doesn't make plants insentientmamelbek
The thesis of this visually stunning 1.5-hour-long documentary feature is that plants have feelings, too, and that they have a variety of ways of expressing them. Based on the best-selling 1979 book by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird, the custom of talking to one's houseplants is strongly recommended by the filmmakers. Vegetarians may need to reassess their position that eating insentient plants hurts the victim less than eating animals. Plants are sentient, voiceless, and on a slower time scale than we are. One highlight of the film is its original musical score by Stevie Wonder.
