Our case studies highlight the vision, plan, process, innovations, and successes of the regenerative projects we work on with our valued clients.
She wanted the security of producing her own food, clean water, and energy, but her farm is located in one of the harshest environments in Canada. The land is arid, and its relentless wind evaporates water from the property. 5th World’s team created a water capture and rainwater harvesting system on her land. We also established a shelter belt to block the wind, solar panels for energy production, as well as two ponds, a garden, and facilities for raising rabbits and chickens.
However, he was stymied by the complexity of the designs needed to transform his property into a self-reliant source of abundant food, water, and energy. In working with 5th World, he discovered regenerative design’s knack for engineering highly-efficient, integrated solutions that accomplish multiple goals. His house was designed with passive solar technology which heats the home year round by capturing heat from every possible source: Sunlight, the lights turned on inside the house, and even the people who live within it. 5th World’s team used precision excavating to capture and store water on his land while also watering his growing food forest. Scotts’ sewer system was re-routed to accelerate the growth of a shelter belt that would both block damaging winds and produce fresh fruit in the summer.
He took note of how any fresh ingredients he used in British Columbia were being grown in places like California and transported to local stores. Dave engaged 5th World to design a passive solar greenhouse for his property so his family could grow fresh, nutrient-dense food year round. However, the project quickly evolved from a practical resource to a transformative lifestyle.
Dave’s greenhouse design features a massive industrial kitchen where food can be processed and canned. The food tastes better, is more nutritious, and the space brings the family together.
